8 Fun & Relaxing Central Park Activities

8 Fun & Relaxing Central Park Activities

Once you reach this spacious NYC landmark, you’ll find plenty of Central Park activities to keep you busy.

When the sun is shining bright, you will relish being out in nature with these activities.

Here is a list of our eight favorite relaxing things to do in Central Park:

1 – yoga

What’s more relaxing than yoga? 75-minute Vinyasa yoga classes are available in Sheep Meadow daily for $20. There are better deals if you go in a group of 3 or more or sign up for multiple classes. This is geared toward all fitness levels, and you don’t even need a yoga mat!

2 – boating

Rent a boat and row out to Central Park Lake. Choose from a rowboat for $20 per hour or take a gondola ride for $50 per half-hour. It’s a cool, refreshing way to relax in the park. You can even bring a picnic lunch and eat on the water.

3 – take a carriage ride

Whether you’re looking for something romantic to do with your sweetheart or you just want an interesting way to see the park, a carriage ride is an excellent choice. Consider booking in advance, and be sure to check the weather before you go! Horses are sent home if it gets too hot or too cold.

4 – have a picnic

You can choose to pack your own picnic or reserve one in advance to pick up on your way in. With delicious choices for both adults and children, ranging from a very affordable $19 to a splurge of $100, you can never go wrong with a picnic in Central Park.

5 – rent a bike

Get your exercise and enjoy a relaxing, self-guided bike tour of Central Park. Bikes are available to rent from $15. You can also join a group bike tour so you can be sure you won’t miss anything!

6 – visit the zoo

At the Central Park Zoo, you can see penguins, snow leopards, sea lions, and more. For a small entry fee, you and your family can have a whole day filled with animal fun.

7 – watch a film

Although the 2020 Central Park Film Festival had to be canceled, we are optimistic that the 2021 event will be able to continue as planned. This free event takes place over a week during the month of August. Be sure to bring a blanket (and skip the alcohol; it’s not allowed).

8 – enjoy the marionette theater

This puppet show is fun for the whole family, and since The Marmara Park Avenue welcomes children, we want to be sure to include one for the kids on this list of Central Park activities. When booking a hotel for your stay in New York City, it makes sense to choose one that is close to all of the NYC staples, including Central Park. Stay in one of the luxurious rooms at The Marmara Park Avenue, and after a good night’s sleep (and an excellent cup of tea or coffee), make your way to Manhattan’s Central Park.
