July in NYC Is Spectacular! Add These 5 Activities to Your Calendar

If you’re planning to visit New York City in July, you are in for a treat. Mayor Bill de Blasio has stated that the city will reopen on the first of the month, welcoming back tourists to shop, dine, and experience the culture of the city with open arms.

At The Marmara Park Avenue, we have no doubt that our city will exceed the expectations of visitors and veteran New Yorkers alike. Here is just a taste of what you can experience during July in NYC:

Shakespeare in the Park

No one does Shakespeare in the Park quite like New York City. This year, from July 6-August 28, visitors can watch an adaptation of Merry Wives of Windsor, called Merry Wives. This version is set in South Harlem, adapted by Jocelyn Bioh, and directed by Saheem Ali. Showings will be held most days in Central Park, and tickets are free. Learn More

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks

Macy’s has yet to announce 2021 details, but they still performed their massive fireworks display in 2020 during the pandemic. Their website says “Come back next year for another incredible experience!” so one can only assume the tradition will carry on this year. The display is typically held over the East River, so boat cruises are particularly popular, as they offer a spectacular way to view the show. Learn More

Summer Stage

This annual event offers free shows throughout the summer in Central Park and Marcus Garvey Park. See GALACTIC FEATURING ANJELIKA “JELLY” JOSEPH AND SPECIAL GUEST MONONEON perform at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park on July 11th. SummerStage is supported by the CityParks Foundation, and this particular event is presented by Sony Presents the Blue Note Jazz Festival. Learn More

Pines Party

Pines Party 2021 is scheduled to take place July 23-25. The theme? Return to Wonderland. Considering they had to cancel the 2020 event, this theme seems very appropriate with the promise to be better than ever. This “all night party on the beach” (geared towards the queer community but welcoming to all) takes place on Fire Island, which is just a train ride from the city, and raises money for a number of good causes. At the top of the list is the Stonewall Community Foundation. Learn More

Governors Island

Governors Island is a fun seasonal getaway. There is plenty to do here in July. Visit breathtaking scenery at The Hills and go down NYC’s longest slide. Have a drink at Island Oyster or relax in Hammock Grove (now with sheep!). You can also experience plenty of art and culture on this beautiful little island. Learn More
