Patent Pending is a cocktail bar located in downtown Manhattan, in a building rich with history. It was once the home of Nikola Tesla, and the bar has wholeheartedly embraced his innovative spirit. It’s also home to one of our favorite winter cocktails in NY: Made from Memory. This hot cocktail has gin, apple brandy, orange liqueur, fig leaf, earl grey tea, and cream. It’s a bit like Christmas in a glass, and it will certainly warm you up after a walk in the cold.
Raines Law Room in Chelsea has exposed brick, comfortable sofas, and plush chairs that will make you feel as if you are taking refuge in a warm, vintage study. What does every vintage study have in spades (if the period dramas are to be believed)? Bourbon. We recommend trying the Eightfold Path, which includes allspice, ginger, vanilla, cardamom bitters, and, of course, bourbon.
Valerie is a great place for meals and delicious winter cocktails in Midtown. Fabled Leaves has all the ingredients to make your night warm and cozy: Suntory Toki Japanese Whiskey, Goslings 151 Rum, Ancho Reyes, pumpkin puree, lemon juice, angostura bitters, and cinnamon.
If you’re a chocolate lover, you simply must visit Ayza during your stay. Ayza offers dinner, brunch, dessert, and, of course, specialty chocolate martinis and wine & chocolate pairings. Our top choice for a winter cocktail, however, has to be their delicious spiced mulled wine.
