Coney Island
Coney Island is a Brooklyn destination for those who enjoy the thrill of rollercoasters and hot dogs. But there's so much more to this historic resort town!
Head out on land or sea-level adventures like playing volleyball by its sandy beaches, taking kids around playgrounds painted with thrilling slides, and swimming in refreshing waters near an ordinary but impressive marine life sanctuary that houses real fish tanks.
You can also enjoy live music or a weekly firework display, and stop at the Coney Island Brewing Company. In 2025, new boardwalk food vendors and extended weekend events are adding extra energy to the season.
Rockaway Beach
NYC’s only legal surfing beach is in Queens. You can swim, fish, play sports, and let the kids run around on one of the beach’s seven playgrounds.
Strangely enough, the beach became popular after the devastation of Superstorm Sandy. They rebuilt the destroyed community, and it quickly became a hotspot for NYC natives and tourists. The city has continued to expand shuttle service and safety patrols this year, making the trip smoother and more relaxed.
Long Beach
The best way to enjoy Long Island is by taking in all it has on offer. There are so many things you can do, from shopping at one of the outdoor markets and strolling along East Park and West Park Avenues or grabbing food at an authentic restaurant.
You can choose from Japanese, Greek, and Latino restaurants or just hang out in a good old Irish pub!

Plumb Beach
Educational and recreational opportunities abound along this section of the Brooklyn shoreline. It’s famous not only for its windsurfing, kayaking, and kite surfing but also for the horseshoe crabs that grace its sands in May and June.
It’s far from the most bustling beach in NYC, but if all you need is sun and sand (and a public restroom!), Plumb Beach may very well be the place for you.
This quieter spot is also known for horseshoe crab sightings during the late spring—an unusual and natural NYC event.

Gansevoort Peninsula – Manhattan’s First Public Beach
A brand-new addition to the NYC shoreline, Gansevoort Peninsula opened with a stretch of sand on the Hudson River, which is perfect for lounging, sunbathing, and taking in those unbeatable skyline views.
While it’s not a swimming beach, it’s an ideal stop for picnics, sunning, and even a mid-city beach read. It’s also just a quick ride from the hotel.
Orchard Beach
