Museum of Modern Art

Museum of Modern Art

Art and culture thrive in New York City. The Museum of Modern Art is dedicated to celebrating these artists. For a bit of culture, stroll through the museum and admire the unique exhibits. Admire the talent, skill, and creativity of the brilliant minds behind the art.

History

The Museum of Modern Art was founded in 1929. We have Abby Aldrich Rockefeller (wife of John D. Rockefeller, Jr.) to thank for the museum. With the assistance of A. Conger Goodyear, Paul J. Sachs, and Frank Crowninshield, she established the first museum devoted to modern-era art. The original museum was located in midtown Manhattan in a rented space. It has since grown into the impressive institution that it is today.
